No onion, no garlic: vegetarian food near the pandals for Durga Puja 2026 in Kolkata
Pujo in Kolkata means pandal-hopping, and pandal-hopping means eating out. Plenty of people go niramish for the Pujas, especially on Ashtami, and some keep no onion and no garlic all ten days. For them, finding the next meal near the pandals takes a little planning.
So Pujo Map puts the vegetarian places on the same map as the pandals. This post lists all of them: what we have checked, which pandals are close, and the nearest metro station.
What does "no onion, no garlic" mean on this list?
Every place here is pure vegetarian, and each one has food without onion and garlic and Jain food available. At most of them, that is something you ask for when you order, not the whole menu. Say "no onion, no garlic" (or "Jain") to the waiter, and check before you eat.
We have checked each one ourselves in September or October 2026, and the date sits on each place's page. Menus change, and Puja week brings special menus, so ask anyway.
Which veg places are near the South Kolkata pandals?
Bhowanipore and Hazra have the most of them, and also some of the biggest pujas.
Sattvik, Bhowanipore. The closest to a pandal on this list: Ray Street Sarbojanin is about 80 metres away, and Chakraberia Sarbojanin about 300 metres. Nearest metro: Netaji Bhavan, about 750 metres.
Kake di Hatti, Bhowanipore. A short walk from Netaji Bhavan metro, about 130 metres. Around it are Bhawanipore Mitra Bari, a family puja about 300 metres away, Harish Park Byayam Samiti (about 300 metres) and 23 Palli (about 400 metres). The no-onion-garlic option is confirmed for the chain.
Flaming Bowl, 30 Harish Mukherjee Road. Bhowanipur Durgotsav Maha Puja Samity is about 200 metres away, and Bhowanipore 76 Pally about 350.
Gopala's, 8/1A Hazra Road. In the middle of the Hazra pujos: Golmath Durgapuja Samity, Bakul Bagan Sarbojanin and Hazra Park Durgotsav are all within about 300 metres. Jatin Das Park metro is about 270 metres away, so it fits the Maddox & Bakul Bagan walking route.
Govinda's, ISKCON's restaurant. No onion and no garlic is the rule of the kitchen here, not an option. Gokhale Sporting and Ray Street Sarbojanin are under a kilometre away. Nearest metro: Rabindra Sadan, about 700 metres. Listed hours: 9 am to 10 pm every day.
Bombay Shiv Sagar, near the Maidan. Further from the pandals, about a kilometre from Gokhale Sporting. Maidan metro is about 600 metres away.

How do you find them on the map?
Open veg, Jain and sattvik food in Kolkata on Pujo Map, and the map shows every one of these places among the pandals. Tap one for the dietary details, the date we checked it, and the nearest pandal with the walk to it. Each place also has its own page, linked above.
The distances above are straight lines between our pins, so the walk will be a little longer. On Saptami to Navami evenings, expect queues at every one of them.
Is your favourite place missing?
Probably, because eleven is a short list for a city this size. More are on the way before the Pujas. If you know a pure-veg place with a reliable no-onion, no-garlic menu near a pandal, tell me on X at @optidus and I'll check it and add it to the map.
